From a large consigned collection of LARGE bowie knives.This lot is a fine pair of big knives made by TED MILLER
Both knives are signature etched Ted Miller on the base of the blade, reverse side.
On the obverse the large knife is etched Collector 612 while the smaller knife is etched Collector 604.Ted Miller is an American Original: Sculptor, Artist, Carver Knifemaker -- all in the Native American Spirit.
He has made knives since 1971, first in Oklahoma City, later in Santa Fe.
These two BIG knives exemplify his work. Their broad blades are canvases for his etching, their elk antler handles fields for his carving.
Note the full relief bison carved from the elk crown on the large knife,
and the eagle head carved from the eye-guard tine. Note the inlaid eyes and horns.Note the stylized bison head on the smaller knife, carved in low relief.
Note the panels of etching on both knives: three on the large knife (two on front, one on back), and one on the smaller knife.

Large knife: 27 inches long overall, 14 inch blade. Small knife: 15 inches long overall, 7-1/2 inch blade.
Also included are the two advertising cards shown below. Ted Miller is a member of the Peoria Indian Tribe of Oklahoma, Roll Number 1201.

Cherokee Knife Maker Ted Miller is an American Indian Artisan of Miami-Peoria-Cherokee heritage.
He carves images of his heritage and culture from stories passed down through his ancestors.
Ted makes the handles for his knives from natural shed deer and elk antler enhanced with semiprecious stones such as turquoise, coral, and onyx.
The blades for the knives are hand-shaped, sharpened, polished and heat-treated individually from 440C stainless steel, 56-60 Rockwell, and acid etched designs are worked on the larger blades.
Some handles may be similar in nature or design but each is an original piece with no two being exactly alike.
